How do you treat infected ingrown hairs on your upper thigh?

My mother has one and it has gotten very infected today. She is planning to go to the hospital but i want to see if anyone knows what to do. She soaked it and compressed hot cloths on it. It popped without her attention yesterday, and now is infected and spreading down her leg as of this moment. Someone please help!!

I have used witch Hazel on them and a pair of tweezers if you can reach the hair to pull it out. She may need to try to pop it more to get more stuff out of it.

I would not go to the hospital but make an apt tomorrow with her General doctor.

Use the hot compress again and use something to clean it and maybe a 4x4 piece of gauze over it so that it doesn't rub on anything.

Hope this helps

Good Luck

She needs antibiotics, she should definitely see a physician.

For drawing infection out, people will put warm tea bags on it... If you buy a product called 'hair no more' it will remove in grown hairs... it is a cream. But first draw the infection out. and i'd use polysporin if it opens up as well, when done re applying hot tea bags

Sounds like the hospital...,....or call the doctor first. Normally they go away with 3 sitz baths a day. This one sounds serious! GET MOVING

Ouch! I would take her to a Emergency Room for advice and proper treatment....she could get septic and that is not good.

I would follow "JustMe"s advice. Just go to a doctor as soon as possible. No need for a hospital visit.
